Student Business Management study year 2014

  • Why did you choose the full-time Business Management Bachelor's program? What made it special for you?

My interest in all sorts of economic topics was raised when I went to a technical college (HTL) with a focus on business informatics in Hallein, Salzburg. It was clear to me fairly early on that I wanted to do a business management degree after I finished school. While looking for a suitable university, I kept stumbling across the degree program Business Management. That is why I decided to visit Kufstein for Open House at Kufstein University of Applied Sciences to learn about the university and the lecturers. It was this visit that convinced me in the end. What was important to me was that the program would offer not only a theoretical foundation in business management but also practical experience. The Kufstein University of Applied Sciences ticked all these boxes with its integrated practical projects in the second year. In addition, the curriculum met my expectations in a program very accurately, including all the topic areas I am interested in.

I can only warmly recommend the degree program to everyone regardless of whether he or she just wants to acquire a foundation of knowledge in the field or start a business themselves. This degree program meets the needs of all.

  • Have you ever taken part in a University of Applied Sciences project before? What was it about? How did you contribute?

While studying in the Business Management Bachelor's program at the Kufstein University of Applied Sciences, I had the opportunity to take part in several projects. In two of them, I was the student in charge of managing the project, which allowed me – along with the director of studies and my fellow students – to work closely with a partner company. Supported by the lecturers’ expertise, the students took on an advisory role. That showed me how important project management is for a company to close each year successfully. In addition, the project allowed me to put into practice, deepen, and even expand on the theoretical knowledge that I had acquired beforehand. The focus of the project was the development of a value management system for the Tyrolean logistics company Berger Logistik and a market potential analysis of the Austrian market for chosen product groups of a renowned German firm. These projects, along with various excursions, such as the visit to the Glashütte Riedel, where we had the chance to talk to the CEO, Maximilian Riedel, were the highlights of the degree program.

  • What career plans do you have?

Upon graduating from my Bachelor's program, I want to gain a foothold in a consulting firm, as I believe that this environment would allow me to make the most of my skills and to develop further, both personally and professionally. In addition, I am planning to do the part-time ERP Systems and Business Process Management Master's degree in cooperation with a company that supports this plan. Of course, it is impossible to predict where I will actually end up, as new doors keep opening. In any case, I am convinced that a degree from the Kufstein University of Applied Sciences is the foundation for mastering any of these tasks.
