- Why did you decide to study for the full-time bachelor degree in “Facility & Real Estate Management”? What do you think is special about this degree?I have always been interested in the real estate sector. When I went to the Open Day at the University of Applied Sciences in Kufstein, the degree program for Facility and Real Estate Management appealed to me very much.
The reasons that convinced me to enroll at the University of Applied Sciences in Kufstein were, on the one hand, the practical relevance of the degree program because many of the lecturers and professors come from the private sector, and, on the other hand, the combination of business, law and technology. I also liked the integration of a semester abroad and an internship semester being part of the degree program. The choice of lectures also appealed to me and in the end they even managed to exceed my expectations. I am also very impressed with the library. It is very well stocked with complementary and specialist literature for the lectures, which is beneficial to me for the work on my thesis.
- Which courses and lectures have you attended so far and what have you learned?
At the moment I am in the sixth and last semester. I have finished all of the courses. I am now gaining work experience during my obligatory internship.
What I have learned from the courses and lectures is specialist knowledge, practical experience, the ability to work in a team and to independently work through complex information.
- Have you already taken part in a project? What was it about? What was your contribution?
In the course of the degree program we are often given the chance to take part in practical examples from day-to-day business, projects or case studies and to implement our theoretical knowledge.
One project worth mentioning was given to us by the Ernst & Young GmbH in Munich. The aim of the project was to identify the potential of real estate for senior citizens for investors. Our geographical focus was the Austrian market. Due to the close cooperation with the company it was a very interesting and meaningful project for me. My part of the project was to determine and evaluate the current state of the various properties suitable for senior citizens in Austria and to present the resulting investment potential to the investors.
- What career plans do you have?
According to what former graduates have said, the career opportunities are very diversified because our degree program covers the fields of law, business and technology.
In my case, I see myself working in real estate management. The knowledge that I have gained in the field of facility management will be very helpful and beneficial for this activity. Numerous presentations during my studies have led to an interest in lecturing, which is something that I hope to be able to do in the future.
