Erasmus+ Staff Week: Academic Exchange in Valencia

23.03.2022 | International
As part of the lector mobility initiative, Prof. (FH) Karsten Böhm enjoyed the opportunity to get to know the partner university Universitat de València in Spain.

From March 7 to 11, 2022, the partner university of the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol hosted an international Erasmus+ Staff Week. The Universitat de València invited Prof. (FH) Karsten Böhm to the Erasmus+ Staff Week on the Spanish campus. The lecturer from the FH Kufstein Tirol was able to gain an exciting insight into the Faculty of Economics at the host institution. Some students of the Web Business & Technology bachelor’s degree program have already spent their semester abroad at this partner university.

Networking and culture

The International Relations Office of the Faculty of Economics organized the varied program. Within the framework of the program, contacts were made with numerous other lecturers and employees both from the Universitat de València and other participating universities from all over Europe. The event coincided with the “Fallas” event, a folk festival in Valencia, in which the whole city presents itself from its liveliest and most creative side. A visit to the daily fireworks on the main square “Mascletàs” was also part of the program, as was a visit to the Albufera Lagoon, a nature reserve that also preserves the traditional management of the region.

Expertise from Kufstein in Valencia

In the course of the academic exchange, Prof. (FH) Karsten Böhm had the opportunity to teach a class on “Innovation in the Age of Digital Transformation & Data-Centric Approaches.” In this lecture, the challenges of digital change in business and society, especially in connection with data-centric projects, were highlighted. Using the MELT frame model by Miika Lainonnen, the increasing merging of the digital and physical world was presented and discussed as part of the “Digital Business Creation” course.

“All in all, the visit has been an enriching experience that has strengthened the international relationships between our partner universities and has added a new quality through the personal contact on-site that has finally been possible again,” Böhm sums up the exchange.

Lecturer mobility at the FH Kufstein Tirol

The University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol promotes the mobility of university staff, e.g., within the framework of Erasmus+. The Erasmus+ Lektor mobility promotes short teaching stays at partner universities in the Erasmus+ program countries and partner countries worldwide.

The program enables teachers to gain international teaching experience and new inputs for their own teaching and research activities. At the same time, it promotes the expansion of scientific networks and the further development and establishment of international cooperation and research projects. The International Relations Office of the Kufstein University of Applied Sciences organizes and manages the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility.

“The International Relations Office is not only looking for suitable mobility options for the university staff of the FH Kufstein Tirol but is also an important contact and networking partner for the employees as well as for the partner institutions. One goal of our internationalization strategy is the expansion of international mobility for our university staff, especially within the framework of Erasmus+. This gives the lecturers and the administrative staff the opportunity to gain professional experience abroad, which is financially supported and promoted by the management,” says Mag. Noureddine Rafili, Head of the International Relations Office.
