CRM & Information Mining II

level of course unit

second cycle, Master

Learning outcomes of course unit

In this advanced course, building on the introduction to basic techniques from ¿CRM & Information Mining I¿, additional topics will be dealt with in depth. These include the following focal points, which are in turn subdivided into the two main areas:
Data warehouse systems: more detailed multidimensional modeling; index structures for data warehouses: multidimensional index structures and the possibilities of optimizing them: star joins and partitioning, optimization of OLAP operations; more detailed discussion of the techniques and tasks in the ETL process; more detailed discussion of the techniques for OLAP operations.
Information mining: more detailed discussion of the techniques in the subtopics of clustering, association rules, classification and machine learning; advanced application examples of web mining, social mining and data mining. In the exercise component of the course the theoretical content acquired in the lecture component will be illustrated using practical examples and implemented within the context of a small project to be completed in a team

course contents

The students will acquire specialized knowledge of data warehouse systems. Among other things they will be conversant with extended multidimensional modeling concepts, index structures and also the possibilities of optimizing them, and will be able to use them effectively in systems.
Building on this the students will acquire specialized knowledge on techniques of clustering and machine learning.
