Sustainability in Action

Our Strategy

Prof. (FH) Dr. Thomas Madritsch, CEO Managing Director of FH Kufstein Tirol

The sustainable initiatives of the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol lie in these five areas:

  • Sustainable buildings and operations
  • Initiatives related to teaching
  • Initiatives for and by faculty and staff
  • Initiatives related to events and visitors
  • Ongoing communication about the topic

Alliance for sustainble higher education institutions

“Global challenges call for coordinated efforts across society and a shift in values as the only way to achieve sustainable development.”
Mag. (FH) Sara Neubauer, Head of Quality and Project Management at FH Kufstein Tirol and Member of the Board, Alliance for Sustainable Higher Education Institutions

Teaching and conducting research on sustainability

Selected Projects

“Teaching and research, too, should contribute to the university’s sustainability initiatives. Thanks to the efforts of many people at our university, new content is constantly being added to curricula and new areas of research are explored. These endeavors keep sustainability firmly rooted in everyone’s consciousness as an important issue.”
Prof. (FH) Dr. Mario Döller, Rector of FH Kufstein Tirol

Studying sustainability

An Education for Green Jobs

“Students at our university receive a very hands-on education that allows them to become the visionaries of the future. This involves both classroom studies and practical projects where we collaborate with outside stakeholders. To give just one example, together with our students we support municipalities and regions in their energy transition.”
Asc. Prof. (FH) Dipl.-Ing. Christian Huber, Director of Studies, Energy & Sustainability Management and Facility & Real Estate Management

The responsible and sustainable use of resources requires motivated experts with a solid technical understanding that allows them to develop innovative solutions. Our degree programs educate precisely these specialists and impart a very broad range of knowledge, spanning technical, business, as well as social and communication skills. The instructors in our program come from different sub-industries and can therefore expose students to all the different facets of sustainability.

Given the current lack of qualified specialists with in-depth knowledge of sustainability, our motivated graduates have first-rate career opportunities with the skills they have acquired. With the help of their innovative ideas, they can help shape sustainability in companies, municipalities, and regions.
