Toyota KATA workshop for senior managers

31.01.2017 | General
Twelve representatives from five different companies in Tyrol, Austria, and the Rosenheim region in Germany took part in the LEAN Lab workshop at the FH Kufstein Tirol on January 23rd and 24th, 2017.

The Toyota KATA workshop focused on the next Lean Management level for senior managers and leaders. "Kata" means "routine" in Japanese. Toyota KATA are proven ways of thinking and acting, which allow the global leader in automobile manufacturing to maximize the potential of the performance of the human brain and the collective intelligence of the organization.

How can I actively advance my organization?

Scientific work is at the heart of all innovative businesses. Exceptional results require learning processes and adjustment. New solutions are not achieved by copying other organizations, but by continually developing one's own organization.

The Toyota management model defines a target state based on the status quo. A number of challenges and obstacles must be overcome on the way to achieving this goal. An ongoing and systematic process of training and coaching, as well as experimenting within the organization is required to tackle these issues and to create a sustainable culture of improvement.

Relevant coaching sessions took place at the LEAN Lab, facilitated by KATA ambassador and management trainer Gerardo Aulinger. Initial coaching conversations appeared to be somewhat static. This changed gradually, however, as participants had the chance to repeat the task at hand, becoming more and more experienced in the process. At the end of this two-day workshop, all participants were excited about this management system and its focus on solutions and individuals.
