Development of an IT solution for personal management of the International Children’s Games

22.10.2018 | Research
Michael Erharter, BSc, scientific employee at WEBTA - Institute for Web Technologies & Applications at FH Kufstein Tirol has internationalized an application for the committee of the International Children’s Games.

The persons in charge of the International Children's Games (ICG), supported by the International Olympic Committee searched for a sustainable and reusable IT solution for categorizing and allocating athletes and supervisors as well as for managing personal data. The International Children's Games were held in Slovenia for the first time in 1968. Since then, more than 50 international delegations have registered for the games, which are held two times per year as summer and winter games.

Two practical projects of the study program Web Business & Technology developed multiple solution options in cooperation with the ICG. In 2015, the ICG, together with FH Kufstein Tirol launched the project for a so-called delegation management tool. Michael Erharter, BSc, scientific employee at WEBTA - Institute for Web Technologies & Applications further developed this tool for the International Children’s Summer Games in Jerusalem. Administrators can use this application to manage the data of about 1500 athletes and supervisors.

Since the games are held at different locations each year all over the world (in Jerusalem in the summer of 2018, in Lake Placid in the winter of 2019) and since delegations from all over the world register for games, Erharter focused on the internationalization of the web application in the last development cycle. The tool can be adapted to the local requirements of each event.
