International Business Studies: A Focus on the new World of Work

16.04.2021 | General
Through its bachelor’s and master’s program in the field of International Business Studies, the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol (FH Kufstein Tirol) offers cutting-edge teaching with a focus on economics, finance, and marketing.

For the winter semester 2021/22, the curriculum has been revised to include exciting and forward-looking new content.

Since the initial conception of the programs, our economy and society have changed considerably. The revision of the curricula is a result of an intensive needs and acceptance analysis, but also builds on the student feedback of the last couple of years. This was further bolstered by constant exchange within the scientific community and with business experts, as well as input from graduates of FH Kufstein Tirol. Prospective students can look forward to exciting new content from next academic year onwards. Upon graduation, they can expect to enter a crisis-proof and fascinating professional field.

Prospective students interested in the bachelor’s program can apply online for a place this fall until May 9, 2021. For the master’s program, the corresponding deadline is June 24, 2021.

THE NEW WORLD OF WORK PUTS A PREMIUM ON PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

Both the curriculum of the bachelor’s program and the master’s program will put additional emphasis on the following areas: digital transformation, change management, and organizational psychology.

In addition to core business knowledge, analytical acumen and a knack for strategic thinking are particularly important in today’s world of work. Another key to success is confidence in dealing with different cultures and languages. “What is truly fundamental in business – and this is supported by a wide range of studies – is personal development. This is the reason why the program places great emphasis on strengthening key personal competences in order to prepare our students for success in this new world of work,” says Director of Studies Prof. (FH) Dr. Peter Dietrich.

A MANAGEMENT EDUCATION WITH A NEW CONCEPT

In a comprehensive ‘360-degree’ management education, all the necessary knowledge is imparted that allows graduates to correctly assess the market, to consider the regulatory framework in their analyses, and to derive successful strategies from them in order to be able to deal with the new challenges which constantly arise in business. “This is what we mean when we talk about in integrated approach to problem-solving and action, which leads to effective management in a constantly changing world,” says the Director of Studies.

A purpose-built didactic concept for both the bachelor’s and the master’s program makes them fit for the challenges of tomorrow:

Since 2005, the bachelor’s degree program in International Business Studies has been offered on a full-time and a part-time basis. The full-time students spend a whole year abroad as part of their education and complete a professional internship. Students in the part-time form spend all semesters at FH Kufstein Tirol, except for one study trip. The fields of expertise covered in the program, including economics, management, digitization, as well as language and culture, in combination with the stay abroad and the internship, result in an educational offer that is unique in the Austrian higher education landscape.

The master’s degree program in International Business Studies ensures a sound and very broad scientific and practical education, which makes the program one of the most innovative business master’s programs in the Austrian university-of-applied-sciences sector. The program offers two thematic focal areas, marketing or finance, a choice that gives students the freedom for individual specialization. In addition, the master’s program is characterized by a particular emphasis on leadership skills. An international study trip in the fourth semester and English as the exclusive language of instruction result in a well-rounded overall package. Upon graduation, students are in a position to pursue further academic opportunities, including doctoral programs at research universities or the opportunity to contribute to scientific research more generally. Similarly, the doors to an international career is wide open for our graduates, as they are in high demand in the international professional world.
