Homecoming 2022 – Finally Back on Campus

13.06.2022 | General
On June 10, 2022, homecoming finally took place again at the campus of the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol (FH Kufstein Tirol) after two years of not being able to take place in person because of the pandemic.

The anticipation and the mood during the evening itself were tremendous when around 560 graduates and guests of the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein got together on campus to interact with each other last Friday. The weather forecast could have been better, but it did not dampen the mood. The guests that were invited came from a wide variety of cities and countries to interact with former fellow students, teachers, and employees about various new things.

Finally live and in color again

This year homecoming was accompanied by a campus celebration because of the 25th anniversary of the University of Applied Sciences. At 5:00 PM, the graduates from the years 2002 and 2012 (who were celebrating their 20th and 10th anniversary of their graduation) were invited to touch glasses with the employees and teachers of the Universityof Applied Sciences Kufstein. At 5:30 PM, Prof. (FH) Dr. Thomas Madritsch, Managing Director of the University, greeted the guests that had been invited and was visibly glad about the festive gathering after two years of a mandatory break caused by the pandemic. “Today, we have more than just one reason to be glad: It means a lot to all of us that this personal interaction can finally take place again live on campus. We as a University of Applied Sciences are very proud of all of our graduates and have a great appreciation for this mutual interaction. For me as a former Director of Studies, it is, of course, absolutely exciting to see the successful career paths that you have mastered and the goals that you are pursuing. The fact that you are coming back to campus for homecoming to share your successes with us and to strengthen our network like this helps us to continue to grow together,” our Managing Director said in his address.

Get-together with graduates and students

At 7:00 PM, the doors were opened for all other graduated classes as well as for the many students who accepted the invitation from Jennifer Könneker, BA who is responsible for the University Alumni & Career Services. Along with FH Rector Prof. (FH) Dr. Mario Döller, she welcomed the happy attendees to the homecoming event at 8:00 PM and wished everyone an unforgettable evening.

Alumni Award

Every year the University gives the Alumni Award to graduates who are involved in various social projects. This year Leandra Irrgang, BA, received the award. She studied International Business Studies as part of the class of 2017 at the campus in Kufstein and uses the expertise that she acquired for a special, sustainable purpose. She is a volunteer for the organization Labdoo. This company refurbishes old laptops and tablets and equips them with learning software that is appropriate for children. These laptops and tablets are then sent to children all over the world by flight sponsors to give the children access to education. “Approximately 150 laptops can be conditioned with the prize money of 1000 euros,” says Leandra Irrgang, BA happily.

Sponsors

Homecoming was once again supported by partner companies from the University’s extensive network. We would like to especially thank Aqipa, EGGER, the Schlumberger sparkling wine cellar, and the Walter Group. Together with the sponsors, an unforgettable evening was made possible for the students, graduates, and employees.
